Summer is here. The hot and humid weather. No rain in site for days. Fires in other states and tons of rain in others what a summer this has been. Crops are damaged oh what to do what to do.
Dogs, dogs, dogs and more dogs. What can we say we love them dearly. One thing this summer is DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOGGIE IN THE VEHICLE. I mean come on WOULD YOU LEAVE YOUR BABY IN THE HOT CAR TOO?? My dogs do not go with me even if they want too especially during the day. I keep them home in the cool zone. Even though one is short hair he cannot tolerate the high temperatures. The long hair however he can handle it but I still prefer to keep my dogs comfortable at all times with fresh cold water and ice. When they are outside and its hot enough they get sprayed the cold water from the hose helps them even more. Its fun to watch them run away and try to hide behind me while they are being hosed by the other lol.
Lets face it if you live in the country, your dog is going to be outside and run around the farm. Hopefully not finding a skunk or two or even roll in some poo from a deer or cougar. If so best luck on the bath I am sure they would run just has far to get away from the water and clean soap.
Well I am off for the moment. Will update this has soon as I can.

A Big Broken Toe
On February 9,2011 early morning around 1230am. I dropped something and it broke my left big toe in two spots. Was stubborn until I looked around on the internet to find out that it was something I had to go have checked out. They took x rays at the hospital not one but three different ones. Doctor was not happy because it was broke in two places. I was given a post op shoe and sent home without pain meds.
The next day I call the bone specialist schedule the appt two weeks from now. Got a call saying no you have to be seen sooner. Appt rescheduled for the 11th. So here comes the 11th, I awake with barely 2 hours of sleep at 7am, get ready to go the Dr. Bones and get there fill out paperwork and is called back. At this time I am so ready to just get back home because it is below 6 degrees out. The doctor came in said "Boy that is one ugly foot." Ok I know its not a pretty foot lol. Then he left too look at the x rays from the hospital. Note this is 2 days later. He comes back says it is not displaced, I guess that means its still lined up correctly. And I let him know that the post op shoe is not protecting me from my two dogs. He ask "How big are the dogs?" I tell him 77lbs and 55lbs. So he thinks a minute and says I have three options: a toe splint, a walk boot and or a cast. Well he chose not me. I ended up in a walk boot. Due to the bruising on my foot and toe. So I am now stuck in a walk boot which is very painful for the next 4 weeks then back to the Dr. Bones office.
So while I am in pain without pain meds I cheat and go back to the post op shoe lol. Why do I need to be in pain if I know I ain't hurting if I wear the shoe.
Always realize that steeled toe boots or shoes would be one of the best ideas for me to start wearing after breaking my first set of bones since I was born.
Time to head out and elevate the foot. Cheers to All.
Here is an update a year after the fact. I still have issues with the big broken toe. It swells on occasions. I no longer use a boot or post op shoe. I do however take motrin for the swelling and sometimes pain. The toe should have been fully healed by now but the one doctor said it could take several years note I am diabetic. My doctor noted that I may also have nerve damage so I am now on a med for nerve damage. Yippee. How time flies :D
